Walmart is trying its best to set up clinics and dispensaries for workers of more than 200,000 in India. They are helping them and their families to get Covid-19 vaccines while India is fighting against the destructive second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The world’s biggest retailer is also working its best and leveraging its global supply chain to provide urgently required oxygen equipment to the people who are in dire need.

Even though Walmart does not contain or operate any of its stores in India, it still controls two of India’s most important companies, one is a retailer and the other is an online payment company; Flipkart, and its associated online payment platform PhonePe. Walmart (WMT) said last Thursday that it will provide more than 3,000 oxygen concentrators and 500 oxygen cylinders free of cost for helping and giving respiratory treatment to corona infected patients. It will also provide other important things like 20 oxygen-generating plants and 20 cryogenic containers for storing oxygen with its transportation, free of cost. The company is also helping by providing additional 2,500 oxygen concentrators as part of the US-India Business Council welfare purposes.

The equipment by the company will be provided to the dispensaries and other non-governmental organizations.

India is fighting against the severe second wave of Covid-19 and its crises. The country reported almost 379,257 new cases of coronavirus in one day which is the highest number that any country has achieved till now. The global record numbers were provided by India’s health ministry.

The country has also reported almost 3,645 deaths in a single day and that is the highest number of Coronavirus deaths India has ever reported in one day. The tragic pandemic that has occurred due to the second wave of coronavirus has overwhelmed and destroyed the healthcare system of the nation, driving to a critical oxygen supply and equipment shortage that has increased the death numbers.

Through Walmart Foundation, Walmart said that it is donating through its charitable arm almost $2 million for supporting India and the NGOs including all the doctors who are in charge of operating the isolation centers and temporary hospitals.

For more than 200,000 associates and their family members including full-time jobbers and delivery workers, the companies Walmart, Flipkart, and PhonePe are trying their best to set up dispensaries for the administration of coronavirus vaccinations free of cost. These companies are not getting and storing vaccines for the associates but are giving the cost of the vaccinations to their workers and their family members.

CEO of the company Walmart, Doug McMillon said in a report that they are working hard to merge the global capabilities of Walmart and Flipkart’s network for distribution to make sure that the vital oxygen and their supplies are made obtainable to those people who require it the most. Walmart is trying to join other businesses such as Google (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT) that are serving in India. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella are racing to give support to India as the country fights an attack of coronavirus cases. Google said that it would give a grant to UNICEF for essential medical equipment, which includes oxygen and $18 million in funding.

The CEOs born in India promised in announcements Monday to help undertake a severe lack of medical oxygen, give technical expertise and expand corporate support as the country remains to set global records for coronavirus day to day infections.
